Types of Research: Quantitative Research (Programme Ratings)

What are Programme Ratings used for?

Programme Ratings are there to show how many people are watching a show a week and this simply shows the difference in popularity between shows.

The purpose however is to determine which shows they should give most airtime to and also determining on which shows they can gain most money from merchandise and games etc. However if a show is presenting poorly and is not getting many views it will eventually be dropped and therefore shows with a more popular rating and presenting well or just clear the slots overall so anyone can book them when needed.
