What are 'Circulation Figures'?

- Circulation Figure is a newspaper's circulation which consists of the number of copies in which it distributes on an average day. Circulation is one of the main principal factors in which is used to therefore set advertising rates. Circulation however is not always the same as copies sold, this is often called paid circulation, considering some newspapers are distributed without fee to certain readers. 

What is its purpose?


- This can be used to discover the overall sum of expenditure by consumers of the product or set of products within a given time frame, but in this situation working with newspapers the circulation figures can be useful knowledge to have for short film creators as they would be paying newspapers or magazines to then advertise their short films but having the knowledge to be aware if it is not useful as maybe not a lot of people would be purchasing or reading them.
