What is the purpose?

- The overall purpose of a newspaper is to disseminate news on a daily and or weekly basis allowing the public to be informed of all events which are happening around the world. the relevance to a media industry company perhaps could be that they would be able to keep up to date with surroundings such as other succesful movie editors/ directors who have been given awards and this is being shown in newspapers, therefore allowing them to up their game and try harder.
