Methods and Sources of Research: Secondary Research (Film Archives)

Film archives:

What are Film archives?

- Film archives are collections of films. This is being done for the comprehensive look at the overall history of film and the preservation and institutions, organisations that have developed the various practices.

What is its purpose?

- The purpose is for professional archivists and historians which generally understand archives to be records that have been naturally and necessarily generated as a product of regular legal, commercial, administrative, or social activities. When thinking about the media industry and the relevance would be that film editors can perhaps look into old short films which were produced and somehow gather information on all the good techniques in which they thought were good and then improve their own short films or even pass on the ideas.
